President Ramaphosa to Boost SA-UAE Partnership at Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week
President Cyril Ramaphosa will undertake an official visit to the United Arab Emirates on 12-13 January 2026, at the invitation of UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The visit coincides with Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW), held from 11-15 January under the theme “The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go”.
The annual summit gathers Heads of State, government leaders, private sector executives, and civil society to foster multi-stakeholder collaboration and drive systemic change for global sustainability.
South Africa and the UAE enjoy robust bilateral relations, marked by high-level engagements and strong economic cooperation. The UAE ranks as a major investor in South Africa, particularly in transport, logistics, and renewable energy. Bilateral trade reached approximately US$5.63 billion in 2024, with South Africa exporting US$2.67 billion (up 5-6%) and importing US$2.96 billion.
During the visit, President Ramaphosa will participate in high-level sessions and engage business leaders to promote investment. He will be accompanied by Ministers Ronald Lamola, Khumbudzo Ntshavheni, Parks Tau, and Mmamoloko Kubayi.
