The South African Embassy in the Philippines, together with the South African Table Grape Industry (SATI), hosted members of the Philippine media and retail sector for an evening dedicated to discovering the story, people and communities behind South African table grapes.
The engagement, held in Taguig, provided an opportunity to introduce Philippine media and retailers to South Africa’s table grape industry while highlighting the quality and distinctive character of South African produce.
Showcasing the Story Behind South African Table Grapes
Ambassador Radebe-Ntshitenzhe, together with representatives of SATI, welcomed guests for an evening of discovery centred on South African table grapes.
The event sought to go beyond the product itself, giving participants an opportunity to learn more about the people and communities that form part of South Africa’s table grape value chain.
Through this engagement, guests were introduced to the broader story behind the grapes that reach international markets, including the communities and producers whose work contributes to South Africa’s agricultural export sector.

Connecting South African Agriculture with the Philippine Market
The participation of Philippine media and retailers provided an important platform for greater awareness of South African agricultural products in the Philippines.
South African table grapes are part of the country’s diverse agricultural export offering, and engagements such as this create opportunities to strengthen relationships between South African producers, international markets and consumers.
The Embassy’s collaboration with SATI also highlights the value of partnerships between South African diplomatic missions and industry organisations in promoting South African products abroad.
‘Taste the Sweet Difference’
The evening was presented under the “Taste the Sweet Difference” theme, placing the South African table grape experience at the centre of the engagement.
For Philippine media and retail representatives, the event offered an opportunity to discover South African table grapes while gaining insight into the industry and the communities behind the produce.
The showcase forms part of broader efforts to build visibility for South African products in international markets and encourage stronger commercial and consumer connections.

Strengthening South Africa–Philippines Trade Links
The engagement demonstrates the role of the South African Embassy in supporting initiatives that connect South African exporters and industries with opportunities in the Philippine market.
By bringing together diplomatic representatives, industry stakeholders, media and retailers, the event created a platform for dialogue and greater understanding of South Africa’s table grape sector.
The Embassy and SATI’s engagement with the Philippine market contributes to continued efforts to showcase South Africa as a supplier of quality agricultural products and to strengthen economic and trade relations between South Africa and the Philippines.
