Engen Expands into Jordan as South African Brand Gains New Foothold in the Middle East

South African energy brand Engen is expanding its presence into Jordan, marking a significant step in the brand’s international growth and Vivo Energy’s expansion beyond the African continent.

The development follows Vivo Energy’s acquisition of TotalEnergies Marketing Jordan, which included a network of approximately 180 service stations, as well as commercial fuels and lubricants operations.

Engen Begins Its Jordan Market Journey

The South African Embassy in Jordan has been engaging with Vivo Energy Jordan as the Engen brand is introduced to the Jordanian market.

In an update on 13 September 2026, the Embassy reported that the General Manager of Vivo Energy/Engen briefed the Ambassador of South Africa on plans to formally inaugurate the Engen brand in Jordan.

According to the Embassy, more than 12 service stations had already been branded with South African and Jordanian colours, with the Engen brand expected to become visible at more than 160 stations across Jordan as the rollout progresses.

A New Market for the Engen Brand

The arrival of Engen in Jordan represents an important development for Vivo Energy, which has identified Jordan as its first market beyond Africa.

The company is building on its experience in fuel retail and distribution while establishing its operations in the Jordanian market. The transition will see the Engen brand gradually replace the previous branding across the service-station network.

The rollout has already moved beyond the planning stage, with Engen-branded service stations beginning operations in Amman as part of the initial launch.

Engen’s Growing International Footprint

Engen has strong roots in South Africa and forms part of the wider Vivo Energy Group.

Following the combination of Vivo Energy and Engen, the group expanded its retail footprint across the African continent, with Engen becoming an important retail brand within the wider organisation.

In South Africa, Engen has developed a substantial network of service stations and has become a recognisable brand within the country’s fuel retail sector.

The expansion into Jordan provides the South African-rooted brand with an opportunity to establish itself in a new international market.

Strengthening South Africa-Jordan Commercial Links

The development also highlights opportunities for South African companies and brands to expand their international footprint and establish commercial relationships beyond the African continent.

The engagement between the South African Embassy in Jordan and Vivo Energy/Engen comes as the company establishes its operations and undertakes the rebranding of service stations across the Kingdom.

The expansion is expected to involve more than simply changing the branding of service stations. Vivo Energy has indicated plans to upgrade and modernise its network while strengthening its commercial fuels, lubricants and related business offerings.

The company’s presence in Jordan also creates opportunities for local partnerships, employment, skills development and broader economic activity.
