Development Ambassadors participating in the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TiKA) Development Ambassadors Programme have visited South Africa as part of an engagement focused on development cooperation and Türkiye’s international development initiatives.

The Development Ambassadors Programme forms part of TiKA’s efforts to promote greater awareness and understanding of Türkiye’s international development cooperation activities.
Through the programme, participants are exposed to development projects, institutions and initiatives connected to Türkiye’s cooperation efforts in partner countries.
The South Africa visit provided the Development Ambassadors with an opportunity to gain first-hand insight into TiKA’s presence in the country and its role in supporting development cooperation.
During their visit to Pretoria, the Development Ambassadors visited the TiKA Pretoria Office as well as the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Pretoria, providing an opportunity to learn more about TiKA’s development cooperation activities and Türkiye’s engagement in South Africa.

The delegation visited the TiKA Pretoria Office, where they were introduced to the agency’s work and activities in South Africa.
TiKA has maintained a presence in South Africa as part of Türkiye’s broader development cooperation engagement on the African continent. The Pretoria office serves as a platform for implementing and supporting development-oriented cooperation initiatives.
The engagement also highlighted the importance of people-to-people connections in strengthening international development cooperation.
Engagement with the Embassy of Türkiye
The Development Ambassadors also visited the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Pretoria, further broadening their understanding of Türkiye’s diplomatic and development engagement in South Africa.
