The Ethiopian Embassy in Pretoria and Madagascar’s Airports Authority (ADEMA S.A.) recently convened a high-level discussion aimed at bolstering aviation cooperation between the two African nations.
Led by Chargé d’Affaires Mrs. Dessie Alebachew Maru and Ethiopian Airlines Area Manager Mr. Dereje Diriba Guda, the Ethiopian delegation met with ADEMA CEO Mr. Jean Germain Andrianiaina in Pretoria. The talks focused on expanding flight connections, including Ethiopian Airlines’ interest in adding services to additional Malagasy cities beyond existing routes to Antananarivo.
Both sides expressed enthusiasm for deepening ties, with Madagascar signaling strong interest in enhanced collaboration to improve destinations and overall aviation links. Ethiopian Airlines, Africa’s leading carrier, sees potential to further integrate Madagascar into its extensive continental network.
The meeting forms part of the Ethiopian Embassy’s ongoing diplomatic push to strengthen bilateral relations with Madagascar across multiple sectors, including transport and trade.
