The High Commission of Sri Lanka in Pretoria officially commenced National Integrity Week 2026 on 27 July 2026, reaffirming its commitment to fostering a culture of integrity, accountability, transparency, and ethical conduct in public service.

The observance serves as an important reminder of Sri Lanka’s ongoing efforts to strengthen good governance and uphold the highest standards of professionalism across public institutions, both at home and within its diplomatic missions abroad.

Addressing officials and staff at the High Commission, His Excellency Air Chief Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa (Retd), High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to South Africa, stressed that combating corruption remains one of Sri Lanka’s national priorities.

He highlighted the country’s comprehensive “Clean Sri Lanka” initiative, describing it as a broad national effort aimed at promoting ethical leadership, preventing corruption, strengthening institutions, improving accountability mechanisms, and encouraging responsible public service.

The High Commissioner emphasized that integrity begins with every individual, noting that meaningful and sustainable progress depends on collective responsibility. He said lasting success requires a shared commitment to corruption prevention, institutional strengthening, effective enforcement of laws, accountability, and the promotion of strong moral and ethical values throughout society.

National Integrity Week provides an opportunity for public officials and institutions to reflect on the importance of ethical governance while encouraging greater transparency and public trust in state institutions.
