South Africa’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, Ambassador Mxolisi Nkosi, paid a courtesy call on Ms Annalena Baerbock, President of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) for its 80th Session, where the two leaders held wide-ranging discussions on key global issues, including peace and security, sustainable development, humanitarian affairs, human rights, the UN80 Initiative, and ongoing United Nations reforms.
The meeting reaffirmed South Africa’s commitment to strengthening multilateral cooperation and supporting an effective, inclusive and responsive United Nations capable of addressing today’s increasingly complex global challenges.
