Brussels Diplomacy: South Africa Hosts Namibian Counterpart for Key Talks
Ambassador Tokozile Xasa, hosted Namibian Ambassador to Belgium, Dr. Alfredo Tjiurimo Hengari, for a courtesy call at the South African Embassy. The meeting underscored the deep historical bonds forged during the liberation struggles against colonialism and apartheid, which continue to drive regional and continental integration today.
Ambassador Xasa emphasised how these shared experiences have evolved into collaborative efforts within the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the African Union (AU). Dr. Hengari, recently appointed in late 2025 after serving as presidential press secretary in Namibia, echoed the sentiment, noting opportunities for enhanced bilateral cooperation in trade, green energy, and EU-Africa relations.
The encounter comes amid growing African diplomatic presence in Brussels, the hub of the European Union. Officials highlighted potential joint initiatives on climate change and economic development, reflecting the post-liberation commitment to unity. This meeting reaffirms the resilient partnership between the two nations, pivotal to Southern Africa’s progress.
