Minister of Tourism Patricia de Lille has concluded a productive bilateral meeting with Angola’s Minister of Tourism, Marcio de Jesus Lopes Daniel.
The high-level engagement culminated in the signing of the Action Plan on Tourism Cooperation 2026-2029, paving the way for deeper collaboration between the two nations.
Angola, the second-largest economy in the Southern African Development Community (SADC), remains a vital inbound source market for South Africa. In the previous year, South Africa welcomed over 48,000 Angolan visitors — marking a healthy 10% increase from 2024. This growth underscores the strong people-to-people connections and rising interest in South Africa as a preferred destination among Angolan travellers.
The new Action Plan will focus on joint marketing, improved air connectivity, skills development, and sustainable tourism initiatives. Both ministers expressed commitment to unlocking the full potential of intra-African travel, creating new opportunities for businesses, communities, and job creation in the sector.
This agreement reinforces South Africa’s strategy to grow regional tourism markets and positions the country as a leading destination within SADC.
