Fifth Senior Officials Meeting
On 26 March 2026, Ambassador Maud Dlomo, Deputy Director-General for the Americas and Europe at South Africa’s Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO), hosted the Fifth Senior Officials Meeting with the Kingdom of the Netherlands at the OR Tambo Building in Pretoria. The Dutch delegation was led by Mr Joost Flamand, Deputy Director-General for Political Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands. The productive session provided an important platform for frank dialogue on pressing international issues.

Both Deputy Directors-General reflected on current political developments across the African continent, alongside broader global political and humanitarian trends. They assessed progress in bilateral relations since the last Joint Commission for Cooperation (JCC), reviewing advancements in trade, investment, and collaborative projects. The discussions highlighted the Netherlands’ role as a key European partner for South Africa, with strong emphasis on shared priorities including sustainable development, climate action, and regional stability. This meeting reinforced the commitment of both nations to constructive multilateralism and practical cooperation.

On the sidelines of the Senior Officials Meeting, DIRCO Director-General Mr Zane Dangor received a courtesy call from Mr Joost Flamand. Both sides expressed optimism about future collaboration and agreed to maintain momentum in their strategic partnership.
