Ambassador Mokuena Promotes South Africa as Premier Destination in Jordan

South Africa’s Ambassador to Jordan, H.E. Tselane Mokuena, has reaffirmed the strong and evolving partnership between South Africa and Jordan during a tourism-focused workshop held in Amman.

The event brought together key stakeholders from the travel and tourism sector, including representatives from Dahab Tourism Company and Ethiopian Airlines, to explore new opportunities to increase tourism flows and strengthen industry collaboration between the two countries.

Unlocking Travel Opportunities

Ambassador Mokuena positioned South Africa as a destination of choice, highlighting its diverse tourism offerings — from world-renowned safari experiences and eco-tourism to cultural heritage and vibrant urban life. She emphasised that strengthened partnerships and knowledge exchange remain essential to unlocking growth in both markets.

Building on South Africa Week Success

The workshop also built on the success of the South Africa Week programme held between September and October 2025. Dahab Tourism Company and Ethiopian Airlines were among the key sponsors of the initiative, which showcased South Africa’s cultural and economic potential in Jordan.

The programme featured exhibitions of South African products and immersive cultural experiences, including food, music and film. South African artists and a professional chef were flown in through the support of sponsors and partners, offering Jordanian audiences an authentic taste of South Africa’s creative and culinary industries.

Commitment to Sustainable Growth

Expanding tourism cooperation could unlock significant economic opportunities. Ambassador Mokuena reiterated South Africa’s commitment to sustainable tourism and infrastructure development, underscoring the role of tourism diplomacy in fostering long-term bilateral growth and cultural exchange.
