In a touching nod to shared cultural roots, the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) hosted a vibrant iftar event at the Ottoman Cricket Club on March 2, 2026, as part of its Ramadan initiatives.
Over 150 guests, including community leaders and families, converged under festive tents adorned with lanterns and banners proclaiming “May Our Table Overflow with Abundance.” The gathering, dubbed the “Table of Hearts,” celebrated Ottoman heritage in South Africa, blending Turkish generosity with local traditions.
Attendees broke their fast with traditional soups, breads, and shared dishes, fostering bonds of unity amid prayers and conversations. TİKA’s South Africa office emphasised the event’s role in strengthening Turkish-South African ties, highlighting themes of compassion and cultural exchange during the holy month. As Ramadan unfolds, such programs underscore diplomacy through humanitarian efforts, bridging continents with every shared meal.
