The High Commission of Singapore in Pretoria hosted a send-off and networking reception ahead of the 4th South Africa Focus Week (SAFW) 2026, bringing together South African business representatives, stakeholders and members of the financial sector ahead of their engagements in Singapore.

The reception, held on 10 September 2026, was organised in collaboration with the International Women’s Federation of Commerce and Industry South Africa (IWFCI South Africa) and the Charlotte Mannya-Maxeke Institute (Charlotte Maxeke Online).

South Africa Focus Week 2026 is taking place in Singapore from 21–25 September 2026, under the theme “Celebrating Friendship, Partnership and the Bridges Between South Africa and Singapore.” The initiative is organised by the South African High Commission in Singapore under the leadership of High Commissioner H.E. Madiepetsane Charlotte Lobe.

Strengthening South Africa-Singapore Economic Relations

South Africa Focus Week provides a platform for strengthening commercial and institutional connections between South Africa and Singapore, with a particular focus on trade, investment, market access and business partnerships.

The initiative also provides South African companies and entrepreneurs with an opportunity to gain exposure to the Singaporean market and explore potential connections within the wider Asian and Asia-Pacific business environment.

The South African Chamber of Commerce Singapore has described the 2026 edition as an opportunity for business leaders, government representatives and ecosystem partners from both countries to explore new opportunities and strengthen bilateral connections.

The Pretoria reception brought together SAFW participants, key stakeholders and representatives from the financial sector.

In his opening remarks, Singapore High Commissioner H.E. Zainal Arif Mantaha encouraged participants to approach their visit to Singapore with a “strong sense of possibility.”

He highlighted the complementary strengths of the two countries, noting South Africa’s resources, industrial capabilities, agriculture, technology, creativity and innovation, alongside Singapore’s connectivity, capital, technology, logistics and international business networks.

These complementary capabilities, he said, can provide a basis for developing new partnerships and mutually beneficial opportunities.

Women in Leadership on the SAFW 2026 Agenda

A key component of South Africa Focus Week 2026 will be a Women in Leadership Roundtable, reflecting the initiative’s broader focus on strengthening women’s participation in business and economic activity.

IWFCI South Africa has positioned its participation around preparing women-owned enterprises for international markets, with emphasis on enterprise readiness, export readiness, market access, strategic partnerships and international business connections.

The organisation has also emphasised the importance of ensuring that international missions translate into sustained commercial relationships, rather than being limited to networking and exposure.
