A high-level textile business mission from Uzbekistan visited Johannesburg to strengthen economic cooperation and explore new opportunities for trade and investment between Uzbekistan and South Africa’s textile and manufacturing sectors.

The delegation was led by H.E. Ashraf Khodjaev, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to South Africa, and included Mr. Ruxullo Zikrillayev, Deputy Director of the Agency for the Development of Light Industry of Uzbekistan. During the visit, the delegation held productive discussions with leadership from the South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SACCI).

The delegation was warmly received by SACCI President Adv. Mtho Xulu, Vice President Neil Pollock, and Chief Executive Officer Alan Mukoki. The meeting focused on identifying opportunities to expand bilateral trade, strengthen business-to-business partnerships, and enhance cooperation within the textile, apparel, and manufacturing industries.

Discussions highlighted the importance of increasing commercial engagement between Uzbekistan and South Africa, with both sides expressing optimism about future collaboration. The exchange of ideas underscored the potential for stronger economic partnerships, knowledge sharing, and investment that could benefit businesses in both countries.
