His Excellency Sakaria Koné, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire to South Africa, personally handed over essential living and non-living items to Ivorian religious communities on Friday, 6 March 2026.
The donations, comprising food staples and other necessities, were distributed amid the sacred observances of Ramadan for Muslims and Lent for Christians. This annual initiative, a tradition established by Ambassador Koné since assuming his post in Pretoria, underscores the Embassy’s commitment to supporting its nationals during periods of penance, reflection, and generosity.
Representing the Christian community, Mr André Ahiba and Mr Alain Aboukoua received the contributions on behalf of their fellow worshippers. For the Muslim community, Mr Ibrahim Diallo, Mr Karim Ballo, and Mr Siaka Kourouma accepted the gifts.
Ambassador Koné, joined by Embassy staff, emphasised the occasion as a moment of shared humanity and unity. “This time of sharing allows us to stand together with our compatriots in faith and fellowship,” he noted.
The gesture reinforces Côte d’Ivoire’s diplomatic ethos of community support abroad, fostering harmony among its diaspora in South Africa.
