Representatives from the African Development Bank Group joined sponsors and executives from Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Norway and Ireland to explore expanded cooperation on AfDB-financed projects across the continent.
With major funding flowing into infrastructure, renewable energy, logistics and the green transition, the gathering positioned Nordic and Irish companies as future long-term partners and co-investors rather than mere suppliers.
Impact Fund Denmark (formerly IFU) highlighted its role in mobilising risk capital and preparing bankable projects. AfDB Executive Director Pirkka Tapiola captured the mood perfectly: “We’re excited when the Nordics are here. Because when you take loans, you pay them back. And when you invest, you implement.”
Speakers including APM Terminals’ Theo Pappas, Novonesis’ Nanda Kishore Chanda and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners’ Nikolaj Sørensen reinforced the evening’s theme: when public finance, private capital and responsible companies align, ambition becomes implementation.
