UNICEF South Africa Raises Blue Flag at New Pretoria Home Shared with UNHCR

UNICEF South Africa officially opened its new offices on Waterkloof Road, raising the iconic blue flag above the modern building in a symbolic ceremony.

The relocation marks more than a change of address: UNICEF and UNHCR Southern Africa are now sharing premises, strengthening collaboration under the “One UN” banner.

UNHCR welcomed its partner with warm messages, stating the move will allow both agencies “to work even more closely together to support the communities we serve – creating more inclusive and lasting solutions.”

UNICEF South Africa reaffirmed that while its physical location has changed, its mission remains unchanged: advocating for every child’s rights in South Africa.

The co-location is expected to improve coordination on protection, education and humanitarian response programmes for vulnerable children, refugees and displaced families across the region.
