Boosting Bilateral Ties: Ambassador Ailán Tours Argentine Firm in Cape Town

Ambassador Raúl Ailán visited the Cape Town facilities of International Merchandising Solutions (IMS). The Argentine company, renowned for designing and manufacturing innovative food display units, has established a robust presence in South Africa, partnering with major retailers like Checkers to enhance fresh food merchandising.
During the tour, embassy officials explored IMS’s state-of-the-art warehouse, filled with refrigerated, heated, and ambient displays exported from Argentina and increasingly produced locally. “This visit celebrates Argentine pride in South Africa,” the embassy posted on X, emphasizing IMS’s role in boosting bilateral trade. Founded over 20 years ago in Buenos Aires, IMS has expanded globally, with its South African arm employing local talent and contributing to the retail sector’s evolution.
Ambassador Ailán highlighted the potential for further collaboration, noting Argentina’s growing exports to South Africa reached USD 412 million in 2025. The event aligns with ongoing efforts to deepen commercial relations, including participation in G20 initiatives. As South Africa grapples with supply chain challenges, IMS’s agile manufacturing offers a model for innovation and job creation. This diplomatic engagement signals optimism for future Argentine investments in the region.
