Maimane-Led Team Engages Indian Committees in Benchmarking Mission
A high-level delegation from South Africa’s Parliamentary Committee on Appropriations (SCOA), led by Chairperson Hon. Dr. Mmusi Maimane, concluded a five-day benchmarking visit to India from 2 to 6 February 2026.
The visit aimed to enhance parliamentary oversight and financial accountability by engaging directly with counterparts in the Indian Parliament. SCOA members held discussions with the Public Accounts Committee, Committee on Finances, Committee on Public Undertakings, Estimates Committee, and the Comptroller & Auditor General of India.
Key focus areas included adopting best practices in governance, performance monitoring, and mechanisms to tackle poverty, corruption, and public fund mismanagement. The delegation sought insights to bolster institutional strength, drive GDP growth, curb unemployment, and improve service delivery back home.
The South African High Commission in New Delhi highlighted the exchange as a step toward stronger bilateral ties through parliamentary diplomacy, underscoring shared goals in good governance and economic progress.
