On 27 January, Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies, Hon. Solly Malatsi, hosted a high-level meeting with Sweden’s Ambassador to South Africa, H.E. Anna Karin Eneström, and Ericsson’s Senior Vice President for Europe, Middle East and Africa, Mr Patrick Johansson.

The discussions centred on advancing South Africa’s digital transformation through strategic collaboration. Key topics included compliance with equity equivalent requirements for multinational ICT firms, expediting nationwide 5G deployment, and expanding digital skills programmes targeting youth and underserved communities.

Participants emphasised aligning global technology investments with national priorities to promote inclusive socio-economic growth. The engagement underscores South Africa’s commitment to bridging the digital divide via international partnerships and innovation-driven connectivity.
