South Africa reaffirmed its commitment to combating financial crime on the global stage as Acting Minister of Police, Professor Cachalia, joined Ambassador Molekane and a national delegation at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Global Fraud Summit in Vienna on 17 March 2026.
The summit brought together policymakers, law enforcement agencies and international partners to address the growing complexity of fraud and economic crime. Professor Cachalia emphasised the importance of cross-border cooperation, intelligence sharing and strengthening institutional capacity to respond to increasingly sophisticated criminal networks.
Ambassador Molekane highlighted South Africa’s ongoing efforts to align with international best practices while fostering partnerships that enhance accountability and transparency.
The delegation’s participation underscores Pretoria’s commitment to multilateral collaboration in tackling fraud, reinforcing its role in global initiatives aimed at safeguarding financial systems and promoting justice.
