Somalia’s Ambassador to South Africa, H.E. Mohamed Sheikh Isack, hosted a warm reception at the embassy for Sheikh Aadan Macallin Sugow (known as Sheikh Suufi Yare), Chairman of the General Council of Somali Scholars, and Sheikh Mohamud Cabdul Baari.
The meeting underscored the growing collaboration between Somali government representatives and religious leaders in the diaspora. Ambassador Isack expressed gratitude for the scholars’ vital contributions to fostering public awareness, promoting Somali unity, advancing peace and stability, and safeguarding religious, cultural, and communal values.
In response, the visiting sheikhs thanked the ambassador for the hospitality and stressed the value of close cooperation between scholars and diplomatic missions to bolster ties with the Somali community in South Africa.
The engagement reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen consultation, unity, and the advancement of Somali interests abroad, particularly supporting diaspora communities.
