Ethiopian Embassy Brings Consular Services to Bloemfontein and Kimberley Diaspora

The Ethiopian Embassy in Pretoria recently conducted a successful outreach mission to bring vital consular services closer to its diaspora in South Africa.

Led by Deputy Chief of Mission Dese Alebachew Maru, the embassy team delivered diaspora engagement, consular, and immigration services in Bloemfontein (Free State Province) and Kimberley (Northern Cape Province).

The initiative included dedicated forums where Ethiopians and Ethiopian-origin residents discussed rights protection, benefits, and contributions to national development back home. Participants raised concerns, received direct responses, and demonstrated support through financial contributions to Ethiopia’s development projects. Embassy officials stressed the need to strengthen institutions to better safeguard diaspora interests.

This mobile service underscores Ethiopia’s commitment to supporting its citizens abroad and fostering stronger ties with the homeland.
