High Commissioner Quashie Holds Agenda-Setting Talks with DIRCO Ahead of Bilateral SOM

Ghana’s High Commissioner to South Africa, His Excellency Benjamin Anani Quashie, recently held discussions with officials from the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO), led by Mr. Nyameko Goso- Chief Director for West Africa- to finalise arrangements for the forthcoming Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM).

The meeting aims to assess progress on commitments made during the 2nd Ghana–South Africa Bi-National Commission (BNC). Discussions focused on crafting a robust agenda to ensure productive deliberations.

Scheduled for 24 February 2026, the SOM forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen diplomatic, economic and political cooperation between the two African powerhouses.

The preparatory engagement underscores both countries’ commitment to deepening bilateral relations amid shared regional priorities. Observers view the talks as a positive step toward enhanced collaboration on trade, security and development initiatives across the continent.
