EU Ambassador Lauds Enduring Partnership at Wesgro Trade Breakfast

European Union Ambassador to South Africa Sandra Kramer praised the deepening economic ties between the EU and South Africa at the annual European Trade and Investment Breakfast, hosted by Wesgro in collaboration with European chambers of commerce.
The invitation-only gathering in the city centre brought together Western Cape Premier Alan Winde, MEC for Economic Opportunities Ivan Meyer, City of Cape Town representatives, European diplomats, and business leaders.
Kramer described the event as one she always anticipates, commending the high calibre of speakers and their insightful addresses that reinforced shared priorities in trade and investment. “We are proud of our partnership with South Africa,” she affirmed, emphasising the EU’s role as the country’s largest trading partner and ongoing collaboration in areas such as green technology, sustainable supply chains, and job creation.
The breakfast aligns with recent bilateral initiatives, including the Clean Trade and Investment Partnership, aimed at fostering sustainable growth and private-sector involvement between the EU and South Africa.
