Airlink’s Nacala Service Takes Off from OR Tambo, Enhancing Trade and Tourism
OR Tambo International Airport marked a milestone in regional aviation as Airlink officially launched its new direct flights between Johannesburg and Nacala, Mozambique, on 2 February. The inaugural service strengthens connectivity between South Africa and northern Mozambique, home to the continent’s third-largest port and growing economic opportunities.
Operating twice weekly (Mondays and Fridays) with comfortable Embraer regional jets, the route departs OR Tambo at 10:30, arriving in Nacala at 13:10, with returns departing at 13:45 and landing back at 16:35. This marks Airlink’s seventh Mozambican destination, joining Maputo, Beira, Pemba, Nampula, Tete, and Vilanculos.
Airport officials and Airlink executives celebrated the launch, highlighting benefits for business travellers, tourism, and trade. The service complements existing links to nearby Nampula, facilitating easier access to Mozambique’s northeastern region. Bookings are available via flyairlink.com.
