Dignitaries Gather in Durban for India’s 77th Republic Day: Culture, Progress, and Partnership
The Indian Consulate General in Durban hosted a grand reception to commemorate the 77th Republic Day of India, marking the adoption of India’s Constitution in 1950.
The event drew high-profile attendees, including H.E. Mr Lukas Marthinus Meyer, MEC for Human Settlements & Infrastructure; H.E. Ms N.N. Boyce, Speaker of the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature; and H.E. Thoba Portia Poyo-Dlwati, Judge President of the KZN High Court, alongside senior government officials, diplomats, business leaders, the Indian diaspora, and friends of India.
Consul General Niteen Subhash Yeola delivered an inspiring address, spotlighting India’s remarkable socio-economic progress, emerging opportunities, and the deepening bilateral relations between India and South Africa. The evening was enriched by captivating cultural performances from talented South African artists, blending traditional Indian elements with local flair to showcase shared heritage and unity.
