Tasting Malawi’s Finest: Mthabela Thanks High Commissioner for Gin, Nali Sauce, and Kilombero Rice

It was with immense gratitude and joy that I recently received a thoughtful and generous gift from Her Excellency Stella Chiripo Ndau, High Commissioner of the Republic of Malawi to South Africa. The presentation of this exquisite hamper—featuring authentic Malawi Gin, Nali hot sauce, and Nasfam Kilombero rice—symbolizes the deep friendship and shared heritage between our two nations.
Malawi Gin, a world-class dry gin distilled from sugar cane and enriched with juniper and botanicals, offers a smooth, citrusy profile with a refined finish that captures the spirit of Malawi’s innovation and pride. Nali hot sauce, crafted since the 1970s from the fiery Malawian bird’s eye chillies—among the hottest in Africa—delivers an intense, appetizing heat perfect for elevating barbecues, stews, and everyday meals. Nasfam Kilombero rice, Malawi’s premium aromatic long-grain variety, is sustainably grown, versatile, and absorbs flavours beautifully, making it a staple for comforting, nutritious dishes.
These exceptional products showcase Malawi’s rich agricultural and culinary heritage. I sincerely appreciate High Commissioner Ndau’s gesture, which strengthens bilateral ties. I wish for more Malawian gems like these to grace South African shelves, fostering greater trade, cultural exchange, and mutual prosperity.
