Deputy Ministers Join Chinese Embassy Celebration of Historic China-Africa Ties
The Chinese Embassy in Pretoria hosted a vibrant celebration to mark the launch of the 2026 China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges, bringing together South African dignitaries and friends to strengthen bilateral ties.
Chinese Ambassador Wu Peng addressed the gathering, urging both nations to deepen the All-Weather China-Africa Community with a Shared Future for the New Era. He emphasized that enhanced people-to-people exchanges would deliver lasting benefits to the peoples of China and Africa, building on the spirit of mutual respect, solidarity, and shared modernization goals.
The event was graced by South African Deputy Minister of Employment and Labour Jomo Sibiya and Deputy Minister of Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities Mmapaseka Steve Letsike, whose presence underscored the importance of inclusive cooperation across sectors like youth empowerment, gender equality, and labour collaboration.
This initiative, coinciding with milestones in China-Africa relations, promises nearly 600 continent-wide activities to foster cultural dialogue, youth engagement, and mutual understanding.
