Ambassador Isack Welcomes Mthabela: Focus on Somalia-South Africa Collaboration
On 8 August 2025, H.E. Ambassador Mohamed Sheikh Isack of the Federal Republic of Somalia to South Africa received Mndeni Mthabela, Director of Diplomacy South Africa, at the Somali Embassy.
The cordial meeting explored potential collaborations between Diplomacy SA and the Embassy, with a primary emphasis on promoting tourism and trade. Both parties are committed to developing structured programmes to enhance bilateral economic ties and cultural exchanges.
In a gesture of appreciation, Ambassador Isack presented a certificate to Mthabela on behalf of the Embassy.
The visit occurred against the backdrop of Israel’s controversial recognition of Somaliland in December 2025, widely viewed as an illegal violation of Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. South Africa has firmly reaffirmed its support for Somalia’s unity, condemning external interference and aligning with the African Union’s stance on preserving inherited borders for regional stability.
