The Serbian diaspora in South Africa gathered in large numbers to celebrate Orthodox Christmas, with Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia, H.E. Saša Mart, actively participating in the festivities at the Church of Saint Apostle Thomas in Sunninghill.
On Christmas Eve (January 6), Ambassador Mart attended the traditional celebration, joined by several hundred believers and members of the Serbian community. The event highlighted the strong cultural and spiritual ties binding Serbs abroad.
The following day, on Christmas Day (January 7), the Ambassador returned for the festive Divine Liturgy, officiated by Bishop Timothy of the Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa. In a poignant moment, Ambassador Mart read the Christmas Epistle from His Holiness the Serbian Patriarch Porfirije and the Hierarchs of the Serbian Orthodox Church, conveying blessings and unity to the faithful.
These celebrations underscored the vibrant preservation of Serbian Orthodox traditions in South Africa.
