Yanfeng Group’s R2 Billion Investment Boosts Local Manufacturing in Pretoria

Chinese Ambassador to South Africa, Wu Peng, has paid a visit to Yanfeng Group, a major Chinese-invested automotive components manufacturer with operations in Pretoria. The visit underscored the growing industrial cooperation between China and South Africa and the role of foreign direct investment in strengthening local manufacturing.
The investment is a joint Chinese and French investment.
Yanfeng Group operates three factories around Pretoria, producing automotive exterior components, interior systems, and seating solutions for the automotive sector. The company has invested approximately R2 billion in South Africa and employs more than 1,700 workers, with an impressive 99% of employees recruited locally. Women make up 54% of the workforce, highlighting the company’s commitment to inclusive employment.
During the visit, Ambassador Wu expressed his hope that Yanfeng would continue to achieve greater development in South Africa, create more high-quality jobs, and generate increased added value for the local economy. He reaffirmed China’s support for mutually beneficial economic cooperation with South Africa.
