South Africa has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening diplomatic and bilateral relations with the Republic of Mali following a high-level meeting between Ambassador-designate Her Excellency Ms. Patience Lorna Mosima Masisi and Mali’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, His Excellency Abdoulaye Diop.
The meeting, held on 27 July 2026, marked an important diplomatic milestone as Ambassador-designate Masisi presented copies of her Letters of Credence ahead of officially assuming her duties as South Africa’s Ambassador to Mali.

During the audience, Minister Abdoulaye Diop congratulated Ambassador-designate Masisi on her appointment and expressed confidence in her ability to further strengthen relations between the two countries.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for both leaders to review the current state of South Africa–Mali bilateral relations and identify new opportunities for cooperation across several strategic sectors.
