South Africa’s Ambassador-Designate to the Kingdom of Denmark, Ntombizodwa Msutukazi Lallie, recently paid a special visit to the Danish Embassy in Pretoria as she prepares to assume her new diplomatic responsibilities in Copenhagen. She was accompanied by Ms Phumzile Mazibuko, Chief Director “Central Europe, East Europe, Northern European and Baltic States. They were received by Ambassador Karin Poulsen of Denmark to South Africa.

President Cyril Ramaphosa recently appointed Ambassador-Designate Lallie to represent the Republic of South Africa in Denmark, marking an important step in strengthening the longstanding relationship between the two countries.

Celebrating a Historic Partnership

During her visit to the Danish Embassy, Ambassador-Designate Lallie reflected on the rich history of cooperation and friendship between South Africa and Denmark. She highlighted the solidarity demonstrated by Denmark during South Africa’s struggle against apartheid and the enduring partnership that has continued into the democratic era.

Speaking on the significance of international cooperation, she remarked that “human solidarity does not need you to be neighbours,” emphasizing the importance of shared values, mutual respect, and global partnerships in advancing peace and development.

Strengthening South Africa–Denmark Relations

South Africa and Denmark enjoy strong diplomatic, economic, and people-to-people ties. The relationship is underpinned by cooperation in areas such as sustainable development, trade and investment, renewable energy, climate action, education, and cultural exchange.

Ambassador-Designate Lallie’s upcoming tenure is expected to further enhance bilateral engagement and create new opportunities for collaboration between the two nations.
