On 18 May 2026, Anne Beathe Kristiansen joined the official opening of Norfund’s new office in Johannesburg, marking another important milestone in Norway’s growing economic and development partnership with South Africa and the African continent.
The opening represents a strategic expansion for Norfund, Norway’s development finance institution dedicated to investing in sustainable businesses and projects that create jobs, promote economic growth and support long-term development across emerging markets.
From Cape Town to Johannesburg
Ambassador Kristiansen reflected on the significance of the occasion, noting the continuity of Norway’s support for Norfund’s mission over the years.
In 2020, she officially opened Norfund’s Cape Town office while serving as Norway’s Minister of International Development. Six years later, now in her role as Ambassador, she once again joined the institution at a defining moment — this time for the launch of its Johannesburg office.
“Different roles, same pride in Norfund’s achievements,” she remarked, highlighting the institution’s continued impact and expansion in Africa.
