Courage to Care: South Africa-Norway Dialogue on Youth Empowerment and Anti-Bullying
South African Ambassador to Norway, H.E. Ms Delores Kotze, recently met with representatives from MOT (meaning “Show Courage” in Norwegian), a leading international youth organization, to explore collaborative opportunities in youth empowerment, anti-bullying campaigns, and fostering inclusive communities.
Founded in Norway by former top athletes, MOT promotes a core philosophy centered on the “courage to live, care, and say no.” The program strengthens young people’s robustness, mental health, awareness, and resilience, while preventing exclusion, bullying, violence, substance abuse, and related challenges.
MOT operates in multiple countries, including South Africa—where it has been active since 2006—Denmark, Latvia, and Thailand. Collectively, these efforts reach tens of thousands of young people through school-based life skills programs and enthusiast-led initiatives.
The discussion highlighted shared goals in building safer, more supportive environments for youth, underscoring the value of international partnerships in addressing global adolescent issues.
