SA-EU Investment Seminar Highlights Sustainable Mining Ties at Indaba 2026
South Africa’s BRICS Sherpa, Ambassador Xolisa Mabhongo, is leading the country’s delegation to the inaugural BRICS Sherpa/Sous-Sherpa Meeting in New Delhi, India, from 9 to 11 February 2026. The gathering marks the start of discussions under India’s 2026 BRICS chairship, themed “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability,” with an emphasis on a people-centric and humanity-first approach.
Ambassador Mabhongo is supported by South Africa’s High Commissioner to India, Professor Anil Sooklal, G20 Sous-Sherpa Mr Ben Joubert, and officials from the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO). The meeting brings together representatives from BRICS members and partner countries, including Belarus, to align priorities ahead of the year’s summits.
South Africa aims to advance its interests in global governance, economic cooperation, and sustainable development within the expanded BRICS framework. The talks are expected to focus on strengthening multilateralism amid evolving geopolitical dynamics.
