Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Ms Thandi Moraka, attended a heartfelt farewell dinner on 20 January 2026 in honour of two departing diplomats: Her Excellency Ms Noralyn Jubaira Baja, Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines, and Mr Yap Wei Sin, Deputy High Commissioner of Malaysia.

The event, held in appreciation of their dedicated service and contributions to strengthening bilateral partnerships, highlighted the warm relations between South Africa and the two Southeast Asian nations. Deputy Minister Moraka praised the ambassadors for fostering deeper cooperation in trade, culture, and multilateral forums, including within the ASEAN Pretoria Committee.

Ambassador Baja and Deputy High Commissioner Yap expressed gratitude for South Africa’s hospitality and commitment to shared goals of peace, development, and mutual prosperity.
