
Rwanda and South Sudan have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation following a diplomatic engagement between their representatives in South Africa.
The engagement took place during a courtesy visit by H.E. Simon Deng Akoök, High Commissioner of South Sudan to South Africa, to the High Commission of Rwanda in South Africa, where he was welcomed by H.E. Emmanuel Hategeka, High Commissioner of Rwanda to South Africa.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the two diplomatic missions to discuss ways of strengthening collaboration and advancing matters of mutual interest.
Strengthening Rwanda–South Sudan Relations
According to the High Commission of Rwanda in South Africa, the discussions focused on strengthening collaboration between the two missions and building on the existing bilateral relationship between Rwanda and South Sudan.
Diplomatic engagements of this nature provide an important platform for missions to exchange views, identify areas of common interest and explore opportunities for closer cooperation.
The meeting also highlighted the role of diplomatic missions in facilitating communication and cooperation between countries, particularly on matters of shared regional and international interest.
Advancing Matters of Mutual Interest
Rwanda and South Sudan maintain diplomatic relations and engage on a range of issues of mutual interest. Continued engagement between their diplomatic representatives can contribute to stronger coordination and greater understanding between the two countries.
The courtesy visit by High Commissioner Simon Deng Akoök also reflects the importance of regular diplomatic interaction among African missions based in South Africa.
