South Africa has taken another step towards strengthening its diplomatic relationship with Uruguay following the presentation of copies of Letters of Credence by Pablo Alberto Porro Lancieri, the Ambassador-designate of Uruguay to South Africa.
The copies of the credentials were received by Mr Clayson Monyela, Acting Chief of Protocol at the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO).
Uruguay’s New Ambassador-Designate Begins Diplomatic Process
The formal presentation of the copies of Letters of Credence marks an important stage in the diplomatic process ahead of Ambassador-designate Porro Lancieri taking up his responsibilities as Uruguay’s representative in South Africa.
The engagement was welcomed by South Africa as another step forward in the friendly and cooperative relationship between South Africa and Uruguay.

The arrival of a new Uruguayan ambassador provides an opportunity for Pretoria and Montevideo to further develop their bilateral partnership.
According to DIRCO, South Africa looks forward to working together with Porro Lancieri to enhance cooperation between the two countries across various fields.
The diplomatic relationship provides a platform for continued engagement on areas of mutual interest and for identifying opportunities to expand cooperation.
