The French Embassy in South Africa, Lesotho and Malawi has welcomed Solal Michon, who has joined its Cooperation and Cultural Affairs Department (SCAC) for a three-month internship.

Michon’s arrival comes as the embassy continues its work to strengthen cultural and cooperation ties between France and the three countries covered by its diplomatic mission.

Solal Michon Joins French Embassy in South Africa

Solal Michon holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in public administration.

His academic background in political science and public administration is expected to contribute to the work of the embassy’s Cooperation and Cultural Affairs Department, particularly in areas connected to cooperation and cultural engagement.

Focus on France’s Strategic Steering Committee

During his three-month internship, Michon will primarily contribute to preparations for this year’s Conseil d’orientation stratégiques (Strategic Steering Committee).

The committee plays an important role in defining France’s priorities in terms of cooperation, governance and partnerships in a given country.

Michon will also assist the department with its year-end financial management, giving him practical exposure to both strategic planning and the administrative aspects of international cooperation.

Supporting Cultural Cooperation

The internship will form part of the embassy’s wider work in advancing France’s cooperation and cultural engagement with South Africa, Lesotho and Malawi.

With his academic training in political science and public administration, Michon will have an opportunity to gain practical experience within a diplomatic environment while contributing to ongoing programmes and preparations undertaken by the SCAC.

The French Embassy welcomed Michon and wished him well during his three-month placement.
