Mavunde Leads Charge for Investment in Tanzania’s Thriving Mineral Sector

Tanzania’s Minister for Minerals, Honourable Anthony P. Mavunde (MP), highlighted the country’s attractive investment opportunities in the mining sector during a high-profile event in Cape Town, South Africa, on 10 February 2026.
The gathering, titled “Partnering for Progress: Investing in Tanzania’s Mineral Value Chain,” was organised by Breakthrough Attorneys, NMB Bank, and Invest SA, in partnership with the High Commission of Tanzania to South Africa and other collaborators. Held as a side event to the prominent Investing in African Mining Indaba, the forum brought together investors, policymakers, and industry leaders to explore growth prospects in Tanzania’s mineral resources.
Key attendees included H.E. James G. Bwana, Tanzania’s High Commissioner to South Africa; Mr. Msafiri Mbibo, Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Minerals; and Ms. Janeth Lekashingo, Chairperson of the Mining Commission of Tanzania.
Speakers underscored Tanzania’s investor-friendly environment, declaring that “the doors are open, policies are supportive, and the Government is geared to fostering an environment where investment thrives and partnerships flourish.” They praised the transformative reforms driven by the visionary leadership of President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan and her Sixth Government, which have revitalised the mining industry, enhanced regulatory frameworks, and modernised the overall investment landscape to attract sustainable partnerships.
The event reinforced Tanzania’s commitment to value addition, local content, and collaborative development in its rich mineral sector, positioning the country as a prime destination for global mining investment amid Africa’s growing critical minerals demand.
