Norwegian Reception Sets Stage for Sustainable Mineral Partnerships at Indaba

The Norwegian Embassy in South Africa, in partnership with the Norwegian-African Business Association (NABA), hosted an elegant reception in the city last night, just ahead of the highly anticipated Investing in African Mining Indaba 2026.
The event brought together Norwegian business leaders, investors, industry executives, and South African stakeholders to foster dialogue on sustainable investments in mineral extraction. As Africa’s leading platform for mining discussions, Mining Indaba—running from 9 to 12 February at the Cape Town International Convention Centre—draws thousands of government officials, investors, and experts under the theme “Stronger together: Progress through partnerships.”
The reception highlighted Norway’s expertise in responsible resource management and renewable energy transitions, aiming to strengthen bilateral ties and explore collaborative opportunities in critical minerals essential for the global green economy. Attendees emphasized the importance of ethical, environmentally sound mining practices to drive Africa’s development while attracting responsible foreign investment. The gathering underscored growing Nordic interest in Africa’s mineral-rich future.
