Pakistan Honors Legendary Qari Sadaqat Ali at High Commission Dinner in South Africa

Renowned Pakistani Qari Syed Sadaqat Ali was honored at a special dinner hosted by Pakistan’s High Commissioner to South Africa, Malik Muhammad Farooq, on 25 January 2026 in Pretoria. The event celebrated the illustrious career of Qari Syed Sadaqat Ali, a master Quran reciter decorated with Pakistan’s highest civilian honors: the Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Crescent of Excellence), Sitara-e-Imtiaz (Star of Excellence), and Pride of Performance awards.

Qari Syed Sadaqat Ali, widely regarded as one of Pakistan’s most iconic voices, began his journey in 1966 as the youngest staff reciter on Radio Pakistan. He gained international acclaim as the first Pakistani to win first place in Bangladesh’s Husn-e-Qirat competition. Famous for his educational television program “AlQuran,” which helped generations—especially children—learn proper Quranic recitation, his soulful and melodious tilawat has inspired millions worldwide, earning him global respect for promoting the beauty of the Holy Quran.
